Monumental red dunes, white clay pans and desert light that rewards early starts and patient observation.

Sossusvlei lies within the Namib Sand Sea, where towering dunes meet hard white pans. Nearby Deadvlei is known for dark camel-thorn trees preserved against clay, dune and sky.

Distances are large and heat rises quickly. Enter at opening time, carry ample water, use suitable vehicles for deep sand and never underestimate desert exposure.
